RandomUser - December 10, 2020, 18:52 Tne reason why I said It was a short-lived campaign was because only these two adverts are the only ones to on YouTube having this jingle from one of Expedia"s eras of advertising, but for all I ,now there might be more which havent been uploaded yet to YouTube. So, in short, these are the only surviving adverts from this era of Expedia Adverts. |
RandomUser - December 10, 2020, 19:02 Misspelled know as ,now. I hate that I dont look at it after I type for mistakes but just do fast typing. Anyways, if you find more adverts from this era, please put the links to them in the comments of this, really want to see more from this era, and if anyone knows if the jingle is from a song, please put the link to the song as well. I really like hearing that "Let yourself go" at the end and it takes me back when I was a child in the late 2000s to early 2010s going to Cyprus. Like I remember hearing this type of comfortable carefree jingles on travel adverts and would really like to preserve theses. |
RandomUser - December 10, 2020, 19:14 Also, the reason why I said iF the jingle is a song is because it kind of sounds like it came out of a song or something, but for all I know, it might have been made for this adverts only. Also, from tne looks of the ends of these adverts, they were probably only made for the UK to see them, which kinda makes it more hard to find probably any proof that anymore adverts were created for this campaign in the UK. |
RandomUser - December 12, 2020, 17:38 The, not tne. I hate that I type too fast and not check what I am saying. Also that iF that F isnt supposed to be like that. I need to grammar correct myself. Also, that background song in the 2nd advert also takes me back, not to even mention the video itself takes me back. Also, I wonder if the heart symbol will show if I do this - ♡ |
RandomUser - December 14, 2020, 18:12 "only ones to on"... great job there RandomUser. |
RandomUser - January 10, 2021, 10:10 Recently, I was searching on google for more adverts about this campaign, and came across another video uploaded on to YouTube just titled "Expedia" by LambieNairnTube, at least I now know that Lambie Nairn, A production company, most famous for creating some of the BBC two idents of 1991 - 2001 also worked on this campaign: https://youtu.be/gvs1rMaqRXc |
RandomUser - January 31, 2021, 19:22 I also found out that the song was made for this, but that means that a full version does exist out there... or maybe not. |
RandomUser - March 6, 2021, 16:47 I just searched it again, I dont think there is a full version of that jingle... but anyway, this campaign also goes by the name "The Blue Sky" and I see a whole lot of pictures with poster adverts, also it seems they also trademarked it, but it expired in 2016, but the campaign was done and Expedia moved on before it even expired. Also, I am pretty sure this tread is dead, as it seems that they only did two video adverts for the campaign the rest were posters as well as having it all over the Waterloo Station. So yeah. I am pretty sure thats all for this campaign. I guess there isnt lost media from this campaign, as all you can see as low quality images on google. ♡ |
Porky 904(*adverts) - March 9, 2021, 0:59 There"s probably tons of adverts that have disappeared or lost through time. Approx. 90% of all silent films are gone, like dust. I"ll see what I can find about these Expedia advert. |
Porky 904 - March 10, 2021, 0:48 By simply searching up "Expedia Advertisements" I found a Spotify list of 82 or 83 Expedia adverts. Maybe some can be found there that aren"t on YouTube. |
RandomUser - July 4, 2021, 3:03 The only image I could find about the Waterloo station as well as information about it was from a news article from a long time ago, but the image is so low quality it was basically useless. |
RandomUser - July 4, 2021, 3:12 I couldn`t find that spotify list you were talking about Porky 904, searched it on Google and only found recent adverts instead, either it was deleted after (could be possible as this mashup is one of the first results when searching `expedia let yourself go`) or its cant be found on UK Google search, maybe a link would help. |
RandomUser - July 4, 2021, 3:22 UPDATE: after searching "expedia adverts spotify", I found a user literally called Expedia. So, dead end there I guess but did see a lot of pages with the adverts with the website called "spoti" so that was probably what you were talking about Porky 904. (Sorry for that s on the last line of my previous comment.) Even when searching the "expedia let yourself go" on google this website came up. So maybe autocorrect did something to your comment. |
RandomUser - July 4, 2021, 3:31 Update 2: okay, the website isnt called spoti its "ispot.tv", but this is getting confusing as I cant find any new information of these UK adverts. Only see the US ads that aired around the same time when searching on the year. Even the website just shows the new ads without requesting for a `demo`, I just think this is all there is now... guessing I misremembered the posters as tv adverts as I did see some of them while at the airport going to Cyprus. Lets hope that isnt the case though. |
RandomUser - July 4, 2021, 6:20 I think it was from 2005, as sources say thats when they began to make stuff for this adverts & then ended in 2009? 2010? The last time I seen it was somewhere between 2008 & 2009 when coming home from Cyprus. |
RandomUser - October 22, 2022, 0:57 Huge update: I forgot about this info: I found a blog post talking about a event that happened from this era, but there was a youtube video showing the event but the video seems to be deleted so, its confirmed, theres lost media about this. |
Kitsune✨ - November 13, 2023, 9:24 When did these ads first appear on UK tv screens? Asking for a friend whos doing a media course at college. |
